This week in the comments
The week is driven by a 16-minute prologue and the countdown to October 2, and the mood is overwhelmingly euphoric. The one recurring sour note is the "no disc, no buy" campaign aimed at Sony, running in the background.
Cope, the fraud who flies like an ace
~30% of the week's comments dissect the prologue. Viewers cheer a Cope who is supposedly "not that good" yet downs a Shadow, Shadow 22 sacrificing his own wingmen, and the player taking over Rex's identity.
The anime-style opening lands hard
~8% of the chatter: the intro and music are compared to a mecha anime opening. Japanese-language commenters report goosebumps and call it the best Ace Combat yet.
Final stretch: counting the days
~12% of comments: time off booked, deluxe preorders, early access closing in. Impatience is the top driver of engagement and keeps rising day after day.
Discs still dominate the chatter
~18% of the week's comments chant "no disc, no buy", often just in emojis. A few thank Sony for the physical release, others plan to play on PC.
Top reactions and controversies
"We are so back": collective hysteria

The live-action miniseries: "we want more"
Dominant takeAround 15% of the discussion: the surprise of a series with recognizable actors, praised for its sincere tone. Commenters ask for longer episodes, a full series, even a movie.
The music as a seduction weapon
Dominant takeAround 14% of the discussion: the main theme and its Latin choir are hailed as the series' best, some calling for a soundtrack award. Tears and goosebumps come up constantly.
No disc, no buy
ControversyAround 13% of the discussion: a massive chorus against the announced end of PlayStation discs in 2028, with puns on the title. Most threaten to skip the next console; a minority notes the game does ship physically.
The space elevator falls: mourning the lighthouse
Dominant takeAround 10% of the discussion: watching the elevator defended in the previous game collapse prompts both anger and grief, often in jest. Theories about Sotoan spies and a false flag pile on.
Infinity-style online: co-op loved, shop feared
ControversyAround 7% of the discussion: the co-op mode and returning bosses thrill fans. But battle pass, loot boxes and PC requirements worry some, while others are reassured by no FOMO on aircraft.
