Sequel to Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions.
This week in the comments
A quiet week after launch: the single captured comment (a French video) sums up the mixed mood — genuine nostalgia paired with disappointment over the sequel's thinner content compared to the first game.
Content seen as too thin compared to the first game
The commenter regrets the lack of character progression, unfavorably comparing it to Rise of New Champions — echoing a critique already widespread in P9.
Top reactions and controversies
The disc boycott: the controversy that took over everything
ControversyStarting in July, a massive wave of comments unrelated to the game itself flooded the comment sections to protest Sony's end of physical game support, largely overshadowing feedback on Captain Tsubasa itself.
Announcement euphoria: "we never thought this would happen"
Dominant takeFrom the announcement trailer onward, a massive wave of joy and nostalgia dominated the discussion: disbelief that a sequel finally exists six years after the first game, with reactions likened to answered prayers.
The World Youth arc finally adapted: a fan's dream
Dominant takeMany longtime followers celebrate the adaptation of the manga arc widely considered the series' best, never fully covered in anime, with strong hope for a future animated adaptation.
Content seen as a step back from the first game
ControversyAfter release, many players lament the disappearance of Dream Team mode, leagues/tournaments, and a story mode seen as more simplistic and talky than Rise of New Champions, despite generally praised graphics and animations.
Cast nostalgia and the return of iconic figures
Dominant takeThe return of Natureza and iconic characters (Schneider, Levin, Espadas), plus nods to the historic Italian/Spanish commentators, spark strong collective emotion rooted in decades of fandom.
Missing Brazilian Portuguese subtitles called out
ControversyStrong backlash from the Brazilian community: the game, partly centered on Brazil (Natureza, Brazilian clubs), ships without PT-BR subtitles even though the first game had them, seen by many as disrespectful.
